Online Workshop: Writing a Memoir

A 2-hour online workshop to learn about life writing and memoir, with novelist Charlie Hill.

Join writer Charlie Hill, for an information and writing workshop for those wanting to write a memoir.

During the session you will take part in writing exercises, and talk about memory and fiction – how one person’s memory of the same event may differ from another person’s, and how to gather together your memories into longer-form prose.

You’ll also learn the practicalities of writing a memoir, and more about the current market for such books.

Writers of all levels are welcome, including beginners.

About the workshop leader:

Charlie Hill lives in Birmingham. He has published two novels, a novella, a memoir, a pamphlet of short stories and several poems.

About the workshop:

The workshop will take place online via Zoom. Please download it and check it is working before the day of the workshop.

Please join the Zoom link 15 minutes before the advertised start time to allow you to join and test your audio and video is working as it should.

Please try and be somewhere you can concentrate and won’t be interrupted. Headphones can be useful if you have some, to cut out other noise.

This event is run by Birmingham Literature Festival, a project of Writing West Midlands. Writing West Midlands is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.
