Sukh Ojla: Sunny

Comedian, actor and writer Sukh Ojla brings her unique, Birmingham-bred wry humour to fiction with her first novel, Sunny.

Sunny is the queen of living a double life. To her friends, she’s the entertaining, eternally upbeat, single one, always on hand to share hilarious and horrifying date stories. But while they’re all settling down with long-term partners and mortgages, Sunny is back in her childhood bedroom at thirty, playing the role of the perfect daughter. Leading a double life – and keeping so much from her family – is starting to take its toll and Sunny can’t keep up the pretence for much longer.

Funny and moving in turn, Sunny is a beautiful look at how we all manage the expectations of our parents versus the reality of what life throws at you in your 20s as you move through friendships, relationships and new jobs.
