Dispatches from the Diaspora: Gary Younge
Across the last thirty years, journalist Gary Younge has reported on the most significant events to impact on Black communities in the UK and beyond. He was on the campaign trail with Nelson Mandela, celebrated on the southside of Chicago following Obama’s victory and reported on the MacPherson report that followed the investigation into Stephen Lawrence’s murder.
He has interviewed some of the most significant cultural figures from across the Black diaspora, including Stormzy, and has drunk whisky in the back of a limo with Maya Angelou. His writing offers insight into the impact of systemic racism on the Black diaspora, whilst celebrating the huge cultural influence of Black communities in the UK and across the world.
Gary will be in conversation with journalist and Writing West Midlands patron Sathnam Sanghera.
