About Birmingham Literature Festival

The Birmingham Literature Festival is a project of  Writing West Midlands, the literature development agency for the region. We are a charity and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.

Taking place every year in October, the Birmingham Literature Festival is a leading festival in the Midlands, showcasing the very best writers, speakers, thinkers, activists and artists from the UK and across the world. We programme and commission a wide range of innovative literature and literature-inspired work, creating unique opportunities for audiences to experience high quality events via our annual festival programmes and associated projects.

We work with a wide range of partners and venues, presenting live events and activities across the city, as well as in digital formats and online.

A Flavour of Birmingham Literature Festival

Our filmmaker Paul Stringer spent some time at Birmingham Literature Festival in April 2018, taking you behind the scenes and talking to audiences and speakers.
