The Killing, The Bridge, Borgen – hit Danish thrillers that are household words for British audiences. Our fascination with Danish Noir seems stronger than ever.
So, we’re delighted to have the company of four acclaimed contemporary Danish crime writers, and an opportunity to explore their writing and discuss our attraction for Danish crime fiction.
Sander Jakobsen is the pseudonym for Danish writing duo, Dagma Winther and Kenneth Degnbol. Their debut crime novel, The Preacher, is out in paperback this year. Dagmar previously worked as an intern at the Birmingham Post and Mail, and we’re pleased to welcome her back to Birmingham.
Elsebeth Egholm’s crime novels starring investigative reporter Dicte Svendsen, and his son Pete Boutrup, are critically acclaimed and have been widely translated. She created the TV series Those Who Kill, shown here on ITV3. Her latest book, Dead Souls, is published in the UK this year.
Lene Kaaberbols is the author of the internationally successful Nina Borg crime fiction series. The Boy in the Suitcase, the first in the series, received the Harald Mogensen Award for Best Danish Crime Novel, and became a New York Times bestseller.
